In a remarkable achievement for women's empowerment, the Ganga Women Self Help Group in Ujarwara village, Fatehpur district, has accomplished a significant milestone by achieving 100% literacy among its members. When the group was formed, 11 out of 12 women members could neither read nor write, facing challenges in basic financial transactions and documentation.
The transformation came through the innovative Shubh Mint project, which focused on building foundational literacy skills among rural women. Through dedicated training sessions and persistent efforts, every member of the group learned to sign their names—a simple yet powerful skill that has opened new doors of opportunity and independence.
This achievement goes beyond just learning to write signatures. The women have gained enhanced financial literacy, enabling them to better manage their savings, understand banking transactions, and participate more actively in economic activities. The newfound skills have significantly boosted their self-confidence, allowing them to engage more assertively in community decisions and family matters.
